Keywords Highlighter does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.

What the extension stores

The keywords, categories, colors, theme preference, and optional site allowlist you create are saved using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device. This data never leaves your browser and is not sent to us or any third party.

What the extension accesses

To highlight keywords, the extension reads the text content of pages you visit. This reading happens entirely within your browser, in real time, solely to apply highlights. Page content is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.

Permissions

• Host access to all sites (<all_urls>) — required so highlighting can run on any page you choose. Highlighting only occurs on pages you enable, or on the domains in your allowlist if you set one.
• activeTab / scripting — used to apply highlights to the current page on demand.
• storage — used to save your keywords and settings locally.

Third parties

None. The extension contains no analytics, no tracking, no external network requests, and no advertising.

Data deletion

Removing your stored data is as simple as uninstalling the extension or using the in-extension reset option. Uninstalling clears all locally stored data.
